Spruce Up Your Garden!
Estimated reading time 3 minutes
You may have the interior of your home in tip-top condition but what about your outdoor space? If you are thinking of selling your property, the condition of the outside can be just as important as the inside. Here at Sell House Fast we have a 'we buy any home' mentality, but prospective buyers are a whole lot more fussy – so here are a few ways you can spruce up your garden!
Weed & trim
Overgrown hedges and shrubs can make a garden feel cramped so cutting bushes back will help to make it feel more spacious. Mowing the lawn instantly transforms a garden making it look bigger and well kept. Keep pathways and patios clean and clear by weeding and sweeping debris away. If your paving stones are dirty use a pressure washer to revive them.
Tidy up
Most of us clear stuff out of the house, garage or shed and move it to the garden waiting for a day (which turns into months) to go to the dump. Make time to go the local tip and remove all rubbish – nobody wants to see a rusty radiator in your garden!
Entertaining area
Make a space for entertaining no matter what size your garden is. Buyers are buying into a lifestyle as much as a property so if they can imagine themselves relaxing on the patio, the house will become more attractive to them. If you don’t have any garden furniture, borrow from family or friends.
Woodwork
If the shed and fence are looking a bit tatty, make any repairs and give them a face-lift with a coat of wood stain.
Colour
Potted plants are a cheap way to bring colour to your garden or balcony giving your outside space the wow factor. The added bonus is that you can take them with you to your next property. Don’t overdo it though; too many pots can look cluttered!
Pets
If you have dogs or cats make sure you clean up after them, you don’t want a potential buyer stepping in anything nasty!
A well maintained garden will assure buyers that your property has been well cared for. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to spruce up your garden; all it needs is some time and elbow grease!
